RESONATING LINES

Date: September 27–28, 2025
Theme: Drawing and its extensions into space and mind
Venue: KKC Hviezda

We invite you to a two-day workshop where we will look at drawing differently than you are used to. We won’t only be drawing on paper – we will also work with space, body movement, memories, and various senses.

You can expect simple creative exercises, walks, working with different materials, and shared conversations. Drawing will become a way to better perceive our surroundings, preserve memories, tell stories, and transform feelings or recollections into images and spatial objects.

No special artistic skills are needed – what matters is an open mind, curiosity, and the willingness to try new things and discover.

Main themes:

  • Drawing and perception: During guided walks, we will observe our surroundings – details, atmosphere, textures, and layers of a place – and translate them into drawings.
  • Drawing as memory: We will transform memories, feelings, and stories into visible traces on paper or in space.
  • Drawing as a bodily act: We will use movement, touch, and the present moment – drawing with both hand and body.
  • Drawing as spatial extension: We will also “draw” beyond paper – for example with wire – creating shapes and objects inspired by memories.
  • Drawing as storytelling: From stories – our own, shared, or local – we will create images or spatial works.

The workshop is open to everyone from 15 to 99+, regardless of prior experience. The program will run both days from 10:00 to 18:00 with a one-hour lunch break. Entry is free, but capacity is limited to 20 participants. Don’t hesitate – register here:

Lecturers

Jasmine Scheitl is an artistic researcher, visual artist, and performer who also facilitates creative meetings and works as a lecturer. She teaches and leads workshops at universities, art institutions, and festivals across Europe. For more than 10 years, she has been creating various creative and collaborative activities that combine touch, memory, and practices that help calm the mind, focus, and better perceive the present moment. She is interested in exhibitions and performances where people can actively participate and engage multiple senses. In her research, she explores how people create shared imaginations, as well as exercises for focus and mindfulness. She examines how these practices connect with knowledge about the brain, thinking, and artistic creation. She completed her Master’s degree at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2012, where she continues to be part of the Performance Lab group. In 2023, she obtained her PhD at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław.

Viktor Fuček is an interdisciplinary artist, academic, urban shaman, and architect whose creative practice connects visual art, performance, experimental music, and spatial design. His work explores the concept of the extended body, from painting to urban structures, where biological, cultural, social, political, planetary, and universal meanings intersect. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, but also pursued art studies at the Australian National University in Canberra, the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Die Angewandte in Vienna, and architecture at the Faculty of Architecture STU in Bratislava. He has exhibited at several important events both at home and abroad. In 2015 he was a finalist of the Oskár Čepan Award, and in 2024 he received the Benhoode Foundation Award for Painting at the international contemporary art fair in Turin. He currently works as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica and as a researcher and external lecturer at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.

The Resonating Lines workshop builds on previous activities of the Generations Together project, which brings people of different ages together through educational, artistic, and community activities. It allows them to share their stories, personal testimonies, and perspectives on the city of Trenčín – its history, present, and visions of a shared future. The project will culminate in autumn 2026 with a final event showcasing the results of all participants’ work.

The Generations Together project is part of Trenčín – European Capital of Culture 2026, realized by a curatorial team consisting of Dominika Belanská (Prievidza), Rokko Juhász (Esztergom – Hungary), Viktor Fuček (Bratislava), and Mads Floor Andersen (Copenhagen – Denmark).
